My favorite classic musicians’ best 3 are Sergei Rachmaninoff, Maurice Ravel, and Erik Satie.

The ranks of these three people change depending on my mood, but now, Sergei Rachmaninoff is the best.

When I was still a teenager, I read Francoise Sagan‘s Aimez-vous Brahms? in Japanese.

I remember that the protagonist’s answer was “Neither.”

I really loved the answer.

For that reason, at that time, at school, foreigners were clearly yes and no. I was brainwashed.

I was very impressed to learn that foreigners have ambiguity.

If you ask me if you like Brahms, I would say I’m not sure.

If in the Romantics, I prefer Beethoven.

I like your choice of composers in terms of ‘mood rankings’
    As Rachmaninov himself said …

‘Do not waste your time with music that is trite or ignoble. Life is too short to spend it wandering in the barren Saharas of musical trash’

Were you listening to Beethoven or Brahms while reading Aimez-vous Brahms 🙂 or neither! 👏👏

Oh! I love the quote of Rachmaninov!

I read it during my high school class breaks. Then, I listened to their pieces of music. And then I was thinking about the story.
