This is the Tale of Genji, a work of classical Japanese literature.
The writing style of this waka poem looks like Concrete poetry, both the original text and the typed one.

ダン蔵 is interested in Haiku, therefore, I gave this book to him. However, It seems me he have no interest to take a look this book.
Therefore, I take a look this book tonight and I notice this one.

Ryoukan’s haiku, Some cherry blossoms are falling, the remaining ones are going to fall down, too
This is great.
I want to tell my mom, “Mom, I’ll catch up with you later.”

There is thunder outside. It’s raining cats and dogs. But I don’t have an umbrella.
This is just before I thought about going back home from my studio.
Today is the day when ダン蔵’s physical therapist is coming at 6pm.
I have to give him dinner before she comes but,
I called Uber. It’s usually costs less than $ 15 to my apartment from my studio, but now it says it’s $ 42.
So, I called ダン蔵 and told him this situation. He said, “This is the capitalism.” A cool answer.
And he continued that I’ll warm up a tin soup and does the therapy when she comes. I hope you can come back meanwhile.
Therefor, this song came crossed my head. “I don’t have an umbrella.”

I think I don’t belong anywhere.
It’s lonely, but it’s also an excuse.
If I stay lonely, I am stubborn.
However, I’m a weak Pisces. Ambivalent.

I’m reading a short text called Dream Kitsch by Walter Benjamin.
These tears.

It would be kitsch.
Picasso’s crying woman may also be kitsch.
The reason I’m crying tonight may be kitsch tomorrow morning.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLHIkm-JJk4Take Me Home, Country Roads
Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, growin’ like a breezeCountry roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roadsAll my memories gather ’round her
Miner’s lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eyeCountry roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roadsI hear her voice in the mornin’ hour, she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
Drivin’ down the road, I get a feelin’
That I should’ve been home yesterday, yesterdayCountry roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roadsCountry roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads Take me home, down country roads

However, I’m not sure where I am belonging. I have no plan to go back to Japan.
The first time I saw Dan Graham‘s Homes For America, I was surprised because it is similar to Sapporo’s suburban residential area. However, this doesn’t need to surprise.
The development of Hokkaido is after the country’s opening, and it has not much about Japanese taste.
The Hokkaido Government Office and the clock tower in Sapporo are also Western-style buildings. Moreover, it is no exaggeration to say that Japan after World War II has been modeled after the United States. Mostly, after the war, the Constitution of Japan was created by the United States.
I guess that the suburban residential area in Sapporo was also planned following that in the United States.
Ed Ruscha is an American painter. He made a painting, Japan is America in !982.

It’s awesome.
I like Ed Ruscha because this simplicity and his drawings make me think he is reading history.
When I look at American 19th century paintings, the passage of time reaches Ed Ruscha.

As I said yesterday, since Japan opened the country in 1854, they actively embraced European art and culture. However, when we started World War 2, the Japanese government banned many things from Western to the nation.
So, Yayoi Kusama wanted to learn oil painting, but she couldn’t do it, and she was studying Japanese painting. Her oil painting was self-taught, so she had difficulty doing it because of not knowing the technique.
When I think of Kusama, the poem I remember is Noriko Ibaragi‘s “When I was the most beautiful.”
It’s very sad but a beautiful poem.
I have another poem I like from her.
About my sensitivity 「
The mushroom work above is from Kusama. It’s very charming. And it’s the mushroom season.

A few years ago, I was enthusiastic about reading freestyle haiku and poetry. At that time, I also read a collaboration freestyle haiku books by Sekishiro and Naoki Matayoshi, “No way Jeep” and “I wouldn’t come without the oyster fly”. It was the same time of Matayoshi won the Akutagawa Prize with his first novel. However, I have not read his novel yet.
From this weekend to today, I read his Akutagawa Prize-winning work, “Hibana” and his latest book, “Ningen” These were funny, and I enjoyed reading them.
When I read “Hibana”, it reminds me that a story of Ryunosuke Akutagawa, “The Life of a Fool.”
The postscript was a letter to Akutagawa from the author.
This is a good chance to read it again.
