I’d like to explain why I thought the proverb is talking about Oiran, yesterday. Tateba syakuyaku suwareba botan, arukusugataha yurinohana「立てば芍薬、座れば牡丹、歩く姿は百合の花」Standing style is as grass peony, sitting as peony, walking style is lily.
昨日、私がなんで、「立てば芍薬、座れば牡丹、歩く姿は百合の花」の句が、花魁の事だと思ったのか、説明したい。
kuroneko-pooh’s blog mentioned a famous line “Tami-san, you are like a wild daisy.” This is a sentimental love story, Nogiku no haka (“The Wild Daisy”). It was written by Sachio Ito, in 1906. There is the line, Masao said to Tami, “Tami-san, you are like a wild daisy.”
黒猫プーさんのブログで、伊藤左千夫が1906年に発表した、切ないラブストーリー、野菊の墓の有名なセリフに言及して居たのでした。「民さんは野菊のような人だ」
If you don’t know the story, you never understand it. But, if Tami san is a wild daisy, a peony or lily-like a sophisticated character must be an Oiran like somebody a professional lady. This is my thought.
そのを小説を知らなければ、何が何だか分かんないと思うけど。 しかし、民さんが野菊なら、芍薬、牡丹やユリのような洗練されたキャラクターは、何というか、花魁とか磨き抜かれた人の様に思います。これが私の考えです。
Do you think this is an extreme theory?
極論でしょうか？

It is the season for peony. 芍薬の季節です。
Japanese are saying as a proverb. 日本人の諺で、
Tateba syakuyaku suwareba botan, arukusugataha yurinohana「立てば芍薬、座れば牡丹、歩く姿は百合の花」
this said； Standing style is as grass peony, sitting as peony, walking style is lily.
This is a good example of a beautiful woman.
これは、美しい女性の例えです。
This is a proverb. In this mean this phrase came from old Japan. I guess this beautiful woman in this poem was an oiran. この諺、昔の日本文化が作ったフレーズ。私は花魁のことを歌ったのでは無いかと思う。

I haven’t read all of the notes from the stationery shop person. But, I learned Gandhi was a vegetarian. I asked ダン蔵 if he knew Gandhi was a vegetarian. Of course, he knew he was a veggie. And he started to talk about him. His talk made me recall the movie, Gandhi.
文房具店の人からもらったノートを全部読み終わってないけど、 私はガンジーが菜食主義者であったことを学びました。 私はダン蔵に、ガンジーが菜食主義者だったって知った？と、聞いたら、もちろん、彼はガンジーが菜食主義者だったことを知っていました。 そしてダン蔵ははガンジーについて話し始めました。 彼の話は私に映画、ガンジーを思い出させました。

I cricked something at Nic’s English class on youtube, and then, he sends me Nic’s One Phrase almost every day. I am amazed. How come he can do this? It’s free.
ニック式英会話のYouTubeチャンネルで、なんか、クリックしたら、ニック先生からほぼ毎日、ニックの一言英会話が届く。驚く。なんでこんな事、出来んの？しかもタダで。
I thought it is spacial. I have started making a notebook with it. せっかくだから、それでノートを作ることにした。
I went to buy a notebook at a stationery shop near my gallery/studio. Then, the shop person asked me if he gave me his happy note. I said no. What is it? He said he made a note of happiness, and if I have time, he hopes I will read it.
私のギャラリー兼仕事場の側の文房具店にノートを買いに行ったら、店のおじさんが、僕、君に僕のハッピーノート渡したっけ？と聞く。私は、いいえ、もらってません。それなんですか？と聞くと、彼は、パッピーノートを書いたからもし時間があったら読んで。と、渡してくれた。
It seems to me he believes God. どうやら、彼は神様を信じてる人のようだ。
With or without faith, he passed me his note. I think this is a generosity of him. And made me feel lucky.
信仰のあるなしは別にして、彼が彼のノートを私にくれたのは彼の寛大さだと思います。で、私は幸運だと思いました。

My drawing came to here the end of the paper again. I’ll take a look at the opposite side tomorrow.

There is a little garden near my gallery/studio. People share the space, and everyone has an allotment. Every allotment has a personality. I couldn’t stop look at this small tulips’ garden. They are very red among the greens. They are amazingly beautiful.

Speaking of May, I have a favorite song. 5月と言えば好きな曲があります。
Hiroko Taniyama wrote the lyrics and Yuki Saitou sing the song and it was one of the hit songs at that time. It was 1986. 谷山浩子さん作詞のMayという曲。斉藤由貴さんが歌ってヒットしました。1986です。
I attach the lyrics, but I can’t translate them into English. It’s very lyrical and I can’t choose the right words for the whole poetry. 歌詞を添付しますが、英語に翻訳できません。 それはとても叙情的で、詩全体にふさわしい言葉を選ぶことができません。
I think May is a good month of a year. In Japan, carps fly in the sky on May 5th. It’s a kids’ day. It’s a national holiday to celebrate all kids. Yasu’s blog reminds me of this. Thank you, Yasu san! 5月は一年の中でも、良い月だと思います。 日本では、鯉は5月5日に空を飛ぶ。 こどもの日です。 すべての子供たちを祝う祝日です。ヤスさんのブログがそれを思い出させてくれました。ヤスさん、ありがとうございます。

I changed the pot of one of my orchids. I should’ve taken the photo of before changing the pot. But, unfortunately, I didn’t. The roots were grown so much and they were out of the pot. Many of orchids in our apartment are gifts from somebody. After the flowers were gone, they are still healthy and sometimes make flowers again. I think this circumstance of the apartment is good for flowers and plants we have. Because I don’t do almost anything except give water.
私は私の蘭の1つの鉢を植え替えしました。 鉢を変える前に写真を撮るべきだった。 しかし、残念ながらしなかった。 根はとても成長し、鉢の外に出ました。 私達のアパートの蘭の多くは誰かからの贈り物です。 花が散った後も元気で、時々再び花を咲かせます。 このアパートの環境が、花や植物に適してるのかな。 だって、私は水を与える以外はほぼ、何もしないのです。
I think plants are independent like cats. I think they don’t like to have meddling. They grow up on their own.
私は植物は猫のように自主的な生き物だと思います。彼らは干渉されるのが嫌いです。彼らは勝手に育ちます。
